Some companies having websites are hiring writing article writers. Some are hired to write surveys. Others venture on selling collectibles on ebay.

If looking for a JOB, what are your marketable skills and previous experiences? Build a list and use that to begin your search. There are legitimate opportunities available in areas such as customer service, telemarketing, virtual assistant, tutoring, transcription, translation, blogging, writing, editing, marketing, nursing, and technical support.
General rule of thumb: Never pay for a job (businesses, on the other hand, usually involve some expenses).
Find a rep to contact, check out their websites, ask questions, do your own independent research. Check resources such as http://www.bbb.org for potential scams. You can find job leads in the Telecommuting Moms folder on the WAHM.com forum. I also have several resources for freelance and telecommuting work on my work from home site.

There are legitimate work from home jobs, you just need to know what to look for. You can tell whether the listing is a scam by the way its written. I would stay away from work at home classifieds, including CraigsList, because most are scam/illegitimate jobs.
You could start with freelancing sites, they are great. Also, there are plenty of legit work from home forums where they often have a folder for available jobs.
Never pay any money to get a job. Anyone who asks for money up front is trying to scam you.
Please see my Yahoo profile – all websites listed are 100% free to join, very easy to do, and all payout daily (most that are listed have auto payouts to Paypal every 15 minutes!). After my husband lost his job this fall and my hours were cut back, I needed some supplemental income and the ones listed in my profile have been a godsend! I especially like the fact that I am paid DAILY / HOURLY / EVERY 15 MINUTES through my Paypal. Best of luck to you – we are all in desperate times and every little bit helps. Please email me with any questions or if you would like a payment proof for any site listed.
Thanks and good luck!
