Work At Home Utah
Work At Home Utah

I’m 33 don’t have a single friend in state. How does a stay at home mom find friendship?

Moved to Utah 2 years ago and have had difficulty making friends. My neighborhood is full of friendly LDS people that just don’t seem interested in being my friend when they learn I’m not interested in going to church. I used to be LDS and have nothing bad to say about the people. I would just really like to have at least one close female friend that I can connect with. I’m terribly lonley and my family and friends are all elsewhere. My husband works a lot and some days my 7yr old is my only company. This leads me to depend on my husband too much. I think I have a harder time making friends than most people. I moved over 20 times before I graduated high school. I have never had many friends at once, but the few friends I made are very close and we are still close even though all live in other states and 2 live on separate continents. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 rats, 1 lizard and I find myself wanting more just to have the companionship.

I know how you feel. It is often hard to make close friends without being Mormon! There are lots of on-line groups for moms where you can connect with moms who live near you and have common interests. I joined a few of the groups but never made it so far as meeting any of the women.

You could also try taking a class or getting a part-time job somewhere (even at a day care so you could bring your kid) so you would be out of the house where you can meet people.
